Create a SYSTEM for Greater, Faster Success

Create a SYSTEM for Greater, Faster Success

When you are first starting in business, you should spend some time creating a SYSTEM or two to make your life easier.  You know what a SYSTEM is, don’t you? It’s a process that will Save You Significant Time Energy & Money.

The first step in creating a SYSTEM is to identify what activities you do on a routine basis that result in revenue, communication or efficiency. Just the activity of identifying the processes in your business and what their results are will force you to think about what you are doing and ways you can improve. This is a classic “work on your business, not in your business” exercise.

Once you have identified the activities, you need to document the steps involved. Documenting the steps within your SYSTEM will allow for improved and consistent action and be able to be duplicated by your staff and teammates. Often, when you set out to document a process, you will start to see where the obstacles or rough patches are and you’ll be able to think about ways to improve.

If you are in a business where you need to recruit team members or hire new staff, you’ll find that it is much easier to train others to follow a documented SYSTEM than if you are flying by the seat of your pants. The more you can reduce your business processes into SYSTEMS, the easier it will be for new hires or even volunteers to get results.

Once a SYSTEM is in place, the activities become much more routine and less energy-draining. You’ll find your business running much more as if on auto-pilot just because your business processes become second-nature. You will be able to increase capacity to handle more business simply because you took the time to create SYSTEMS.

One of the greatest benefits of creating a SYSTEM that you use consistently is that your clients and customers will know they can rely on you. You will be seen as dependable and trustworthy, which is always a great thing when you want referrals.

One of the best systems I use in my business everyday is my email autoresponder, aWeber. When a new member joins Mirelli, the membership software automatically adds their email into my subscriber email database and send them our Daily Mirelli Motivational Minute email. As long as I have motivational quotes loaded into the system, every member gets their email every day. I don’t have to think about. I don’t have to spend time or energy on it every day. It is automatic and it communicates FOR me. (If you are looking for an autoresponder to increase efficiency in your business, I highly recommend aWeber. If you sign up through this link, Mirelli will earn an affiliate commission. They are currently running a first month for $1 special offer.)

Another benefit of having a SYSTEM is that you’ll be able to spot and handle unusual situations more quickly and easily. You’ll be able to see what transactions don’t flow in your SYSTEM. You can then either come up with a process to handle those exceptions or find ways to avoid getting into those situations in the future.

The more you can systematize, the better.

So spend some time today reviewing your business processes and documenting your SYSTEMs. You’ll be glad you did.
