Do You Have a Life Vision?

Do you have a Life Vision — you know, the type of vision that gets you jumping out of bed in the morning, raring to go, ready to beat back the world?  Do you have a passion and a purpose that dominates your thoughts during the day and your dreams at night? Is there something that is so important to you that you want to focus on it all the time?

A great way to think of purpose, vision, and goals is as your “why,” “what,” and “how,” respectively. Creating your Life Vision will guide you each and every day, in all of your thoughts and actions.

3 Steps to Creating a Life Vision

1) Start with the Foundation of Your Purpose

You can’t put words behind your Life Vision until you have identified your purpose. If you haven’t yet found your true calling in this life, NOW is the time to figure it out. Simply put, your purpose is what you were put on this earth to do. What do you love? What feels right for you? Dig deep if you have to. When you find it, you’ll know. Your soul will sing, your heart will jump. It will feel right.

2)    Memorialize It

life visionOnce you’ve got your purpose, you need to identify what you’re going to do in service of it. All of the bits and pieces of your life that interwine to help you fulfill your purpose, that’s your Life Vision. When you are living your purpose, what would you life look like? Where would you live? What would your daily activities be? Who would you be serving? Those are the elements of your Life Vision.  Committing your Life Vision to paper is an absolutely essential action. It breathes life into your “what”, making it a real thing that you have a responsibility to nurture and bring to fruition. You can write it out in a statement, much like these well-known companies:

Alzheimer’s Association: Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s

Habitat for Humanity: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Oceana seeks to make our oceans as rich, healthy and abundant as they once were.

Make-A-Wish: Our vision is that people everywhere. will share the power of a wish

San Diego Zoo: To become a world leader at connecting people to wildlife and conservation.

The Nature Conservancy: Our vision is to leave a sustainable world for future generations.

Ducks Unlimited is wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever.

In Touch Ministries: proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in every country of the world.

NPR, with its network of independent member stations, is America’s pre-eminent news institution

Many people, instead of writing out a Life Vision statement, choose to represent their vision using a Vision or Dream Board. If you are in the Charleston, SC area, we are having a Life Vision Activate! Workshop June 14, 2015. Click here for more information.

3) Fan the Flames

Post your Life Vision statement  or Vision Board in a high-visibility spot in your home and work space so it’s never far from your thoughts. Share it with the people close to you, the ones whose support you’ll rely on to put your vision into action. It will help them better understand what you need, and help them keep you accountable.

Take the time to identify and define your Life Vision today. Your future awaits.

Have a glorious day,

Trina
