Iskra Perez-Salcedo
Iskra Perez-Salcedo was born in Cuba and came to the US at age nine during the 1980 Mariel Exodus. Education has always played a big part of her vision, since it was through education that she broke away from poverty and gave her three children better opportunities.

After twenty-five years of a very successful career in accounting, her corporate International Financial Analyst position was eliminated.

The life she had built for herself had collapsed. So at the age of 45, she looked around and saw no job, her kids had moved out, and discovered herself in a deep depression. She suddenly found herself spending more and more time alone. It was then that she decided it was time to reinvent her path. She learned how to motivate herself to achieve more and more goals. She is a successful real estate investor and the owner/CEO of IPS Accounting Services, a company providing multiple services optimizing growth for businesses.

She was recently named the Latinx Business of the Year.

Nia Hartsfield
Meet Nia Hartsfield:
"I began my heart's work in Charleston, SC founding Hard Candy Self DefenseⓇ in 2016 to train, educate, prepare and transform the mindset of the community to take a MORE realistic approach to personal protection and safety.

"A number of sexual assault incidents in my life led to the realization that we must connect the belief that we are worth it to a plan of action to increase our safety.

"This was the catalyst for my passion to teach an education-based self-defense system that implemented more proactive and preventative measures that reduce the chances of victimization.

"I take a more unique approach to survivability using my military training experience, firearms certifications, training in various martial arts disciplines and a steady and engaging demeanor.

"Hard Candy Self DefenseⓇ employs crime prevention, readiness and response based upon REAL LIFE personal experience -not a false sense of protection that most mixed martial arts practices provide.
It has been through dedication and consistency that I have gained success in communities near and far changing the statistics on violent crimes and increasing personal safety."
